Hamden Hill Ridge Riders Meeting 2/12/2010
Hamden Town Hall ( 14 Members present)
1. Meeting opened to the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:05 PM
2. Financial report by Jean Groth, Motion to accept by Pete DeBrock 2nd by Rich Talbot. Financial report accepted.
3. Hank Groth read the minutes of the last meeting held in Andes. Motion to accept by Bill Sprague, 2nd by Jean Groth. Minutes accepted.
4. Dave Sprague, our NYSSA Rep. Talked about N.Y. States intention to distribute the trail fund monies directly to the clubs by direct deposit. He said that the signup for the forum in April should be done by March 15th. The Chainsaw class will cost $20 extra from the $70 cost of the forum for each member attending. After March 15th the cost will increase to $80. There will be a booth available to Delaware County Clubs for display at the forum.
5. After much discussion on what to give to the Walton Fair Grounds for the use of the race track, a motion was made by Caroline Wright to give the Fair Board a check for $300 and a check to the Horse barn of $700 for a total of $1000. Motion 2nd by Jay Tweedie and passed by the members.
6. Bill Wright gave a summary on the success of the races. He noted that cussing was heard by the crowd over the loudspeakers from the walkie talkies lying by the microphone and that has to be addressed. He said that we need more food vendors and possibly other vendors. Bill and Earl Sines will get together a race crew sometime in the near future in preparation for next years races.
7. It was suggested that we write up a letter of thanks to Mark Pierce for his time and effort spent in grooming the track during the races. Hank said he will take care of that matter.
8. Earl Sines said that gas and food into Walton will not happen this season but a park & ride from the Walton Park should be a go. He will keep working on getting the trail into Walton for gas & food.
9. Joe said that the General Store is now closed and there will be no gas available in Hamden.
10. Joe said that Walton Soccer has requested a donation. Motion was made to contribute $25 by Rich Talbot 2nd by Earl Sines. Vote was 5 for and 5 against. Joe cast the deciding vote FOR. Motion passed
11. We also received a request for a donation to the Andes Athletic club. Motion to donate $25 made by Caroline Wright, 2nd by Jean Groth. Motion passed by a vote of 6 to 4.
12. Joe noted that elections are coming up next month for President, Treasurer, and 3 Direc tors. Joe will not seek re-election and neither will Jean Groth. The three directors, Bill Wright, Pete DeBrock and Charlie Hedges said they would return if elected. Marilyn Armstrong said she would run for Treasurer. All nominations have to be in, one week before the meeting of March 12th.
13. Joe read a thank you card from the Sluiter Family and one from the Worcester Historical society for the contribution in memory of Matts Grandmother.
14. Joe mentioned that shelf brackets had been made by Hank Groth and Charlie Hedges had put the shelves up in the Hamden groomer shed. Charlie did a great job and the building has been cleaned up also.
15. Hank read a memo from NYSSA about a new dues-free membership for military personnel. NYSSA recommended that all clubs participate. The free membership will cover active members of the military and veterans that have been wounded while serving their country. A motion was made by Rich Talbot to adopt this policy, 2nd by Earl Sines and passed by the members.
16. 50-50 was won by Ann Caso for $7
17. Motion to Adjourn by Pete DeBrock 2nd by Bill Wright. Meeting adjourned at 8:25PM |
