Monthly meeting of the Hamden Hill Ridge Riders

Hamden Town Hall 04/18/08

• Meeting opened at 7:05 to the Pledge of Allegiance

• Minutes of last meeting read and accepted. Motion to accept by Mike Drew, 2nd by Earl Sines

• Financial report read by Jean Groth.

• The members were reminded that the work log books must be in to Hank by next week so the final accounting can be completed.

• Joe told the members that all signs should be taken down.

• Earl Sines and Greg Calaci gave a presentation of their experience at the Nyssa Forum held last week at Buffalo. Some of the points that they brought up were Signing, Roberts Rules of Order, Fundraising, Gps and Tourism. During the presentation some of the things that were considered by the members was 1.To see if we could get the Delaware Valley Ridge Riders to GPS our trail system and find out how much they would charge us. 2. To join the Delhi and County Chamber of Commerce. That was in the form of a motion by Bill Wright and 2nd by Earl Sines 3. Greg Calaci will present the club with a stop sign that promotes businesses in the area, at the meeting in September.

• The building to be erected on town property in Hamden was the next topic.Earl Sines came up with prices from Stock in Walton and came up with a total price of $9294 which includes the cost of the foundation. Earl said that he would do the foundation with some help from the members. Hank Groth came up with building materials from Jess Howes Lumber with a cost of around $7000 and that included 4 garage doors and all electrical materials. After discussion on the subject it was decided that the materials would be purchased from Jess Howes Lumber. The next discussion was about a ceiling on what the club would spend for the building. A ceiling of $14000 was suggested by Hank but Matt Sluiter objected and felt that $12000 was sufficient. A motion was made by Matt which stated “the building to be erected on town property for our equipment shall not exceed $12000 for all materials”. The motion was 2nd by Charlie Hedges and passed by the members present.

• Matt Sluiter asked the club for permission to spend $3500 to complete 3 projects on C2B. He wants to finish the bridge at Dick Liddles at a cost of $500, do a complete maintenance job on the track groomer at a cost of $500 and add 6 feet to the existing groomer building in Andes at a cost of $2500. Bill Wright made a motion to grant the request, Mike Drew 2nd the motion and it was passed by the members present.

• Joe said the next project this year would be to erect a bridge over the brook on Tom Hudsons property in Delancey. Joe will look into getting DEP approval for this project.

• Joe read a letter from a student at Andes Central School requesting a donation for their June class trip to Boston. Ron Favret made a motion to contribute $100 towards the class trip. Motion was 2nd by Mike Drew and passed by the members.

• Jean Groth asked the club for a donation in the name of the Hamden Relay for Life Team to the American Cancer Society. The club has sponsored this cause in the past. The donation would cover 5 luminaries along the track in Delhi and each luminary would be dedicated to a club member involved with cancer. Gerry Wright made a motion to donate $100, 2nd by Mike drew and passed by the members present. The people honored for the luminaries are Mary Terry, Mark Lowe, Jenny DeBrock, Roland Huyck and Carl Larson.

• The next meetings will be the 2nd Fridays of September through January. September, November and December will be held at the Hamden Town Hall. October and January will be held at the Andes Hotel. All meeting start at 7 PM.

• The 50-50 was won by Mike Drew for $18

• Meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM . Mike Drew made the motion, 2nd by Pete DeBrock
