Hamden Hill Ridge Riders Meeting 4/21/2010
Hamden Town Hall (16 Members present)
1. Meeting opened at 7:06 to the Pledge of Allegiance
2. Minutes of last meeting read by Hank Groth. Motion to accept by Pete DeBrock second by Joe Caso. Motion passed
3. Financial report given by Marilyn Armstrong. Motion to accept by Steve Reed, second by Bill Wright. Passed
4. Earl Sines said that the Walton Fairground had been cleaned up this week by our members.
5. Dave Sprague said that our trail grant survived the first go-around of the NYS budget. Hopefully it will survive the second go-around also.
6. Earl Sines and Gary Tymeson gave a brief talk on what happened at the NYSSA forum held last week. Earl said that the snowmobile industry brings about a billion dollars to the State every year. It is very important to the businesses of upstate New York. Earl said that Fred Avila had donated a Chainsaw carved snowmobile for a silent auction at the forum. It brought in $475 for the cause.
7. Insurance for the groomers was brought up and Matt Sluiter said he would look into the cost and make a decision on whether to purchase it or not. A motion was made by Gerry Wright to put a ceiling on the cost of $2000. Second by Gary Tymeson and passed.
8. $20 certificates for landowner recognition is to continue. Earl Sines said it would be nice to have a landowner event and at the August 9 meeting of the executive board Earl will chose a date and committee to run the event.
9. Trail changes and new trail proposals have to be in by June 18th. Earl is working on an extension from Hamden south past the landfill and towards Walton. He will report on the trail at a later date.
10. Earl said he needs 3 gates for a landowner plus posts. Matt made a motion to spend $400 for the materials. Passed
11. Pete Loker said that Ken Pyke needs a gate to keep out ATV’s from his property on trail S25. He said the trail also needs work on a washout but might be able to relocate trail around washout. Pete will report back on the trail.
12. Matt said he would like to have a Trail Boss for each section of trail in the Hamden area. To be discussed later on.
13. The Hamden Bombi needs new wheels and tires. Matt said he found a drag for $1500 that would have to be altered. $1500 for drag,$500 for pump, $300 for plates $1200 to ship. Nothing was decided. The Bombi in Andes needs new wheels & tires at a cost of $2000. Motion by Bill Sprague to spend the money, second by Earl Sines. Passed
14. CCTA is giving up the booth at the Walton Fair this year and it was suggested that all the clubs in Delaware County split the cost to keep and share it. That will be addressed at the forum at the Schoolhouse later on.
15. Hank Groth said we should pay for the refreshments at the next forum at the Schoolhouse in Downsville. Joe Caso made a motion to do so and Bill
Sprague seconded that motion. Passed
16. Hank made a motion to donate $25 to the Hamden Fish & Game Club for their fishing derby for youngsters to be held at the Arpino pond this
Summer. Second by Earl Sines and passed.
17. Bill Wright made mention of how the Snowmobile Races held at the Walton Fairgrounds was good for the area and that it brought in a lot of money for the businesses.
18. Earl Sines said that it would be a good idea to try and get a grant for a Piston Bully a $100,000 machine. Discussion was made about fixing up the Hamden Bombi or selling it or letting it rot away. No motion was made but it was decided to fix it up piecemeal.
19. Club hats were brought up. A color and printing was chosen and Joe Caso will follow through to get pricing and number of hats to purchase for resale.
20. Pete DeBrock won the 50-50 for $17
