Monthly meeting of the Hamden Hill Ridge Riders

Hamden Town Hall 02/08/08
(25 members present)

• Meeting opened at 7:05 PM the the Pledge of Allegiance

• Financial report by Jean Groth, Motion to accept by Joanne Lowe, 2nd by Mike Drew. Accepted

• Minutes of last meeting read and accepted. Motion by Joe Caso, 2nd by Jean Groth. Passed.

• Gerry said the Radar Races held Saturday, Jan.26, were a success. There were 196 contestants and 16 Kiddies. Total profit for the day was $1600 after expenses. Gerry thanked the workers for the job that was done and a special thank you went to the people in the pit area for keeping the racers going at a regular pace throughout the day.

• The Rich & Mary Terry breakfast has been changed to the 24th because we could not get the Town Hall on the 17th. A sign-up sheet was available for volunteers. Gerry showed the members a poster from the Maywood club that has a breakfast on the 17th. He urged the members to support their breakfast.

• At the next meeting there are 5 positions up for re-election. Those include Vice President, Treasurer and three Directors. Anyone wishing to run for any position has to have their name submitted by one week prior to the regular meeting. Right now there is no Vice President for the club. Gerry mentioned that it would be a good idea to get some new people involved for some of these positions.

• The 16th of March the Lewis Engine Fire Dept. of Hamden is having their pancake breakfast. In the past we have supported that event by buying a spot on their place mats. Mike Drew made a motion to purchase a $50 spot for that event. Second by Ron Favrette and passed by the members.

• Pete Loker said that the C2 trail by the stone quarry has to be moved because the guy at the quarry has gouged out a hole where the trail used to be. He will get up there to re-mark it to where it used to be.

• Gilleskie has sold his property, across from the Hamden General Store, to the DEP. It should not be a problem because we have an established trail there. Supposedly the DEP does not shut down established trails on their new purchases.

• Ron Favrette said that he has installed the rails on the bridge spanning the East Brook.

• Bill Wright said that Mike Frazier & John Pawlakowski have begun work to reconstruct the bridge across the stream on Mike's property. He said that the cost for materials would be around $465.and they would appreciate some financial help from the club. Dan Zale made a motion to allocate $500 to John Pawlakowski after the span was complete. That motion was seconded by Mike Drew and passed by the members.

• Gerry mentioned the need for our equipment shed to be constructed this year to store our groomers. This is a must do item for the coming year!

• The 50-50 was won by Dakota Wright for $34.50

• Motion to adjourn by Mike Drew, 2nd by Wayne Moody. Meeting adjourned at 8:10 PM
